And he did this regardless of the facts that his home was blown up, an attempt on his life was made and the many efforts of the law to imprison him. Martin Luther King, Jr moved forward to not only become a Great American Religious Leader but one of the most important Civil Rights Activists of all time. He played key parts in many, many Civil Rights Movements. In 1957 King helped to organize the SCLC and became its first president. King found his passion was to end racial segregation. And not only was King able to skip the 9th and 12th grades, he also passed the entrance exam of a very respected college – the Morehouse College, where he graduated at the age of 19 with a B.A. At the mere age of 13 years old, he became the youngest assistant manager of a newspaper delivery station. He was beaten as a child, struggled with depression and even attempted suicide.īut despite all these struggles, Martin Luther King, Jr went on to accomplish many great defeats. Not only did he have to endure racial slurs and prejudices of the world around him, but his life struggle included much more. King was a black man growing up during one of the worst times in the world to be a black man, during a time of racial segregation.
